Too Busy to Exercise?
Get your workouts while you can.

We all have those weeks in which there is no time to get to the gym. There are many excuses for not exercising: deadlines at work, final exams, travel, houseguests, etc.

Here are some no-excuse suggestions that will make a difference in your life and your waistline.

Equipment links will take you to purchasing information at fitnesswholesale.com. I should mention that I am not affiliated with them in any way. I am just find them reliable and their prices competitive.

Work Tips

Changes you can make in your daily routine.

  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator. You've heard it before-- Now do it!
  • Drop messages to other departments by hand instead of email.
  • Replace your computer chair with an exercise ball. This helps your posture and your abdominals.

Break Tips

You know you need a few minutes an hour away from your computer or desk to relax your eye. Instead of just sitting some more, try some of these exercises-- no equipment necessary!

  • Jumping Jacks
  • Lunges
  • Squats
  • Pushups
  • Crunches
  • A Brisk Walk or Run (especially good if you don't have your own office or private space to do any of the other exercises).

Tips for Small Spaces

If you travel, you need something you can do in a small space with lightweight equipment. Exercise bands and tubing are a solution to this problem. Here is a list of a few exercises you can do with exercise tubing that will cover every major muscle group.

  • Rear Lunges (all major leg muscles)
  • Chest Press (chest)
  • Seated Row (back)
  • Lateral Raise (shoulders)
  • Bicep Curl (biceps)
  • Tricep Extension (triceps)
